My Ultimate Gluten Free Easter Eggs Guide 2023

EASY GUIDE to gluten free Easter Eggs!! I’ve broken this guide into 3 parts:
- (1) Biggest Changes from 2021 and Top 3 Surprises
- (2) GREEN section : gluten free and
- (3) RED section : NOT gluten free.
**As always, I have relied on supermarkets websites for info so please check the packets just incase they’ve made a mistake!!**
Before we get going… Round Up of My Easter Guides
I’ve got 3 Gluten Free Easter Guides:
- Easter Eggs: this one!
- Easter Chocolates: everything except the eggs
- Gluten AND Dairy Free Easter Guide: all in one – eggs, other chocolates etc

Biggest Changes from 2022
- Terry’s Milk Chocolate Egg – used to come with a Terry’s bar and therefore had a “May contain gluten” but now it doesn’t and so its gluten free!
- Enchanted Egg
- The giant easter egg (528g) has a “may contain gluten” warning
- The regular sided one (206g) does not have the warning.
That second one does seem a bit odd but I’ve checked LOTS of different supermarket websites and they all say the same. Let me know if you spot either eggs in store and can confirm.
TOP 3 Gluten Free Surprises
Here is a list of the ones that surprised me! Pics of all 3 in the green section below so you can double check what they look like:
- Milkybar – all Milkybars are a “may contain” but the Easter egg doesn’t have that warning!
- Terry’s – white and milk (usually a “may contain” too)
- Kit Kat – the one with bunnies, no regular bars/chunky bars – pic below

Lindt
This one causes dramas every year because Lindt has an annoying statement on their website that implies all products with barley malt extract (like all the ones below) are gluten free.
I have messaged them directly but had no reply. Last year, I spoke to Coeliac UK who said they’d also been unable to verify the products containing “barley malt extract” were infact gluten free. I’ve seen loads of contradicting comments on Instagram and FB groups but as it stands, until Coeliac UK say otherwise, I am considering these not safe.
If you have heard differently, please tell me!

Re the list of gluten free eggs, are any of these made in a factory also handling gluten?
Thank you

Just wondered about the Maltesers Milk Chocolate Easter Egg & Chocolate 127G. Tesco’s say this contains Barley and Wheat?

Hey – good news, it is gluten free actually! Providing it’s that exact one – just an egg and the bunnies, no regular Kit Kat bars – then you’re good to go 🙂 enjoy! Xx
