EASY GUIDE to gluten free Easter Eggs!!

I’ve broken this guide into 3 parts:

  • (1) Good and Bad Surprises!
  • (2) Gluten Free:
    • Cadbury
    • Other Brands
    • Asda
    • M&S
    • Waitrose
    • (NB – I have chosen these supermarkets because they have some special/different own brand egg in the normal aisles. I don’t think the other supermarkets do but correct me if I’m wrong!)
  • (3) NOT Gluten Free

**As always, I have relied on supermarkets websites for info so please check the packets just incase they’ve made a mistake!!**

GOOD SUPRISES 🙂

Here is a list of 4 GLUTEN FREE EGGS that I didn’t expect to be gluten free:

  1. Milkybar – regular bars are a “may contain” but the good news is their Easter eggs don’t have the warning!
  2. Terry’s – the oranges (with segments), bars and truffles are a may contain but the white and milk Easter Eggs are fine!
  3. Kit Kat – the egg with the bunnies is gluten free (not eggs with regular/chunky Kitkat bars)
  4. Reeses – correct me if I’m wrong but I thought this used to be a “may contain gluten”? If so, that warning has now been removed and the egg is safe!

BAD SUPRISES 🙁

  1. Terry’s Chocolate Orange Easter Egg Exploding Candy – a new egg this year that sadly isn’t gluten free like the rest of the Terry’s Easter Egg range
  2. Enchanted Eggs – as far as I can see, they now have a “may contain gluten” warning
  3. Cadbury – Lots of new bits so be careful with Cadbury this year!! See the “Not Gluten Free” section for more info

  • Twix
  • Mars
  • Divine
  • Monty Bojangles
  • Ferrero
  • Yorkie

The Annoying One: Lindt

This one causes dramas every year because Lindt has an annoying statement on their website that implies all products with barley malt extract (like all the ones below) are gluten free.

I have messaged them directly but had no reply. Every year, I speak to Coeliac UK who say they’ve also been unable to verify the products containing “barley malt extract” were infact gluten free. I’ve seen loads of contradicting comments on Instagram and FB groups but as it stands, until Coeliac UK say otherwise, I am considering these not safe.

If you have heard differently, please tell me!

Re the list of gluten free eggs, are any of these made in a factory also handling gluten?

    Thank you

Nope – none of them 🙂 All coeliac safe! (based on the info I’ve got from supermarkets websites so double check in person!)

    Hi there

Just wondered about the Maltesers Milk Chocolate Easter Egg & Chocolate 127G. Tesco’s say this contains Barley and Wheat?

Hey – good news, it is gluten free actually! Providing it’s that exact one – just an egg and the bunnies, no regular Kit Kat bars – then you’re good to go 🙂 enjoy! Xx
